Consultations

Accepting new clients in late March. Existing clients, please email me for follow-ups if no appointments are available in the booking calendar. Remote and in person sessions available.

Initial consultations are comprehensive, holistic, and include a custom game plan of recommendations. I offer follow-ups to assess progress as your situation shifts.

Consultations are a confidential space where you can share your health goals and concerns with me. I will ask questions about the experience of your illness, your life, the foods you eat, any supplements you take, and other health practitioners you have so I can integrate my work with theirs. I use traditional methods of assessment (learn more here) during the consult and provide written recommendations for you typically within 48-72 hrs after we meet. I strongly recommend at least 2 follow-up sessions for clients healing from chronic illness. All recommendations are tailored to fit your unique situation and needs.

Recommendations include:

Assessment + Guidance

A holistic review of your needs and a collaborative partner in your path to healing

Herbal Medicine

This can look like teas, herbal concentrates/extracts in liquid form (tinctures), powders, and more

Nutritional Therapeutics

Support identifying and integrating foods critical for healing

Supplements

Recommendations on helpful supplements and a review of what you already take

Life Habits + Patterns

Suggestions on specific techniques, tools, and therapies that can support healing

I am a matchmaker, reconnecting people to planet by pairing specific plants with specific persons.

My work is to collaboratively guide you through this experiential relationship so that you can begin to heal yourself.

 How it Works

  • Optional. Schedule a 15 min pre-consultation call at no cost. Have any general questions answered about how I work, and discover if we’d make a good team.

  • Initial consultations typically last 1.5-2 hrs. When booking a session, you will have the ability to send me a brief note about your health goals.

  • You will receive intake and consent forms via email after booking the initial consultation. Please submit completed forms, along with any recent labwork prior to our session.

  • We will discuss your health goals, concerns, health history, daily routine, and work collaboratively to integrate new healing tools into your life. For remote consults, I will email you a link at least a day before our scheduled meeting.

  • Within 2-3 days, you will receive via email a personalized health protocol addressing herbs, supplements, diet, and lifestyle recommendations that make sense for your unique situation.

  • Schedule a 20 min session with me to review your protocol together. I will also answer any questions you have. Included in the initial consultation fee.

  • Follow-Up sessions (45 mins) are highly recommended, especially for clients with chronic illness. I generally recommend the first follow-up between 3-4 weeks after you’ve started the protocol to see how the herbs are working for you, and to make changes if necessary.

Note: For those recovering from long-standing illness, it is important to have patience and diligence for the herbs to be most effective. Herbs tend to work on a much deeper and more complex level than pharmaceutical drugs. Formulas commonly need to be altered over time as symptoms and conditions change.

Commitment to accessibility
I offer one reduced-cost session per month for clients unable to afford the above rates without compromising their ability to cover basic needs. Contact me to check availability. For more info on reduced cost sessions, see FAQ below.

  • “I went 15 years with a condition that doctors couldn't diagnose, treat or cure. In just a matter of months, Mon helped me address it and I am better than I have been in years. I recommend Mon to anyone that will listen. For those who had never had an herbalist practitioner before like myself, you have nothing to lose and so much to gain. Mon has given me so many 'tools in the toolbox' of life that I will benefit from for years and hopefully decades to come.”

    — Ruddy T. (she/they)

  • “I was blown away by my initial consultation with Mon—they are incredibly thoughtful, thorough, gentle and knowledgable. It was immediately clear that I was in expert hands, and I really appreciated their considerate, whole-person approach, which felt especially important during a health crisis and after many years of being ignored by other healthcare providers. Their herbal and lifestyle suggestions were comprehensive and helpful, and included resources that empowered me to learn more about my health on my own time. I’ve felt very lucky to work with Mon during several seasons of my health, and highly recommend their services to all.

    - Caitlin H. (she/her)

    • Be sure to submit your completed intake + consent forms as well as any recent labwork if you have any.

    • Have something to take notes with if you like. I will provide written recommendations, but taking notes can also be helpful as I will simplify your formal protocol.

    • Find a safe, private space with a strong wifi connection for remote consults.

    • Please let me know in advance if you have any specific needs or considerations.

  • Absolutely. I 100% encourage bringing someone supportive to you during our session. Please keep in mind I will only be consulting with the client who initially scheduled with me.

  • Unfortunately, no. Herbalists in the United States are currently unable to be reimbursed by insurance carriers. You can use HSA/FSA funds to purchase many remedies I recommend, however, so be sure to check your eligibility through your insurance provider.

  • Rather than giving a specific sliding range to choose from, I ask clients how much they are able to contribute based off of the $135 standard initial consultation fee. Offering up to 50% off the standard fee for one person per month ensures my work is sustainable. However, I do not turn anyone away if the 50% reduced fee is still too much (i.e. in situations where there is housing insecurity and/or someone may be receiving gov’t assistance like SNAP). This guide on sliding scale can be a helpful reference guide if you need help figuring out a cost that makes the most sense for your situation. If you can afford the standard fee without risk to covering your basic needs, I ask you to please help me reserve reduced cost sessions for those in need.

Please contact me to check availability. If I am booked and you need care sooner than I can provide, I can offer referrals to other reduced cost practitioners and free clinics.

  • I use a private, secure, and end-to-end encrypted services from Proton for email and data storage. For videoconferencing, I use an open source alternative to Zoom that offers end-to-end encryption called Jitsi. For remote clients, please use the Chrome web browser to enable end-to-end encryption. Signal videoconferencing/calling is available for those who prefer it; please respond to your appointment email letting me know.

  • No. Any remedies I recommend will need to be purchased separately. I offer a link to a virtual dispensary under For Clients for easy ordering.

  • This can vary greatly depending on the client, their situation, and needs.

Here’s a range for specific remedies that fits most ppl:
    $50-$130/mo - herbal extracts/tincture formulas
    $20-35/mo - herbal teas
    $30/mo - herbal powders
    $30-60/mo - supplements

For very complex clients with chronic illness or those that do not respond well to low dose therapies, the cost can be towards the higher end. Please let me know about any financial limitations you may have and I will do my best to accommodate specific budgets. It is generally less expensive for clients to prepare their remedies themselves rather than buying them already made. It is also good to keep in mind that as recovery progresses, the amount needing to be spent usually decreases.

*If you are having trouble affording what you need, I might be able to help, as I am actively building partnerships with apothecaries and companies offering at-cost herbs and supplements. Contact me for more information.

  • This varies greatly among clients. 3-6 months is a typical average before remedies need to be modified or transitioned. I always advise on developing listening skills to your own body — as you become more aware of yourself, your body will start to give you clues that it may be time to change things up. It’s less about developing a tolerance to herbal medicine and more about a shifting of needs and reinstating balance, kind of like a moving rubix cube.

  • I am acutely aware of the irrevocable harm that hard-lined, specific diets can cause, both physically and mentally. I do not emphasize unreasonable dietary restrictions or the idea that the body needs to be ultimately 100% “purified” from all kinds of toxins. I support a healthy and balanced approach to the elimination of what no longer serves the body and mind as long as this is the will of who I work with.

  • Follow-Up sessions are up to 45 mins long and best suited for first-time follow-ups and for those who have reached a turning point in their work with a current protocol. This involves an in-depth review of symptoms and changes in needs/wants.

Q&A check-in sessions are 15 mins long and for clients who have 3-5 questions that do not involve detailed review of ongoing health concerns. This is more like a quick check-in.

If we start a Q&A session and decide we actually need a longer follow-up session, I will apply the cost of the Q&A session towards the cost of the follow-up. Depending on time and availability, we may be able to extend the session or we will need to reschedule.
